Vintage from the Vault Vol. 5Ziggy Stardust & Zinfandel
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars broke conventions, shifted paradigms, opened the door for experimentation, and defined the genre of Glam Rock. It was both incredibly timely and classically timeless. The further down this path we went, the more parallels we found between Ziggy and Zin. There’s even a thread connecting the album’s storyline to Zinfandel’s history—a tale of rise, fall, rebirth, transformation, and ultimately, stubborn resilience.
But most importantly?
Like a great Zinfandel, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars has aged perfectly.
2013 Dos Limones Zinfandel (Sonoma Mountain) – From a hot, dry, but highly acclaimed vintage, this wine benefited from our cooler afternoons, allowing for extra hang time and deep complexity.
2015 Estate Zinfandel – A product of a notoriously difficult vintage with rain, hail, drought, and heat waves all at the wrong times. The result? A tiny production of concentrated, incredibly age-worthy wine.
2016 Sonoma Valley Zinfandel – A bit of a dark horse. Our by-the-glass champion and wholesale stalwart, it wasn’t something we ever intended to age. But, after revisiting it, we realized we needed to rethink that strategy.
